Bellstar portfolio continues to grow, with the addition of Comox Bay Marina & Residences
Leading Resort Management Company adds Vancouver Island property to its collection of destination resorts
(August 22, 2011) Bellstar Hotels & Resorts is delighted to announce the addition of Comox Bay Marina & Residences to its extensive portfolio of leading destination properties. The resort management and development company—a market leader in Western Canada—will manage the $30 million residential resort development for both real estate buyers and vacationers in a new partnership with developers Howard Land Group.
Located in picturesque Comox on the east coast of Vancouver Island, the luxurious Comox Bay Marina & Residences will be situated in a premium location next to Marinaside Park and Comox Bay Marina. The three-‐story, West Coast-‐style property will house 62 fully furnished suites, a restaurant, oceanfront owners' lounge, outdoor hot pool, fire pits, marina, retail space and an underground heated parkade. Owners will enjoy easy access to boating, sailing, golfing, hiking, skiing, diving and fishing; Comox is a renowned diving and fishing destination as much of the coast is sheltered by smooth, unruffled waters -‐ an area noted by Jacques Cousteau as the second best cold water diving destination in the world.
"The Bellstar team is thrilled about its new partnership with Howard Land Group", declared Ralf Strub, COO of Bellstar Hotels & Resorts. "Widely recognized for its high standards of building and design, the company has been involved in several real estate investment projects on Vancouver Island and in Lower Mainland, BC, including the award-‐winning Oswego Hotel in Victoria. We are excited for this opportunity to partner with another industry leader." MJM Architect Inc., BBA Design and AFC Construction join Bellstar and Howard Land Group on this exciting project. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2012 and will take approximately 20 months.
Oversized windows and generously furnished balconies in all 62 suites showcase spectacular sweeping southern views of Comox Bay. Fully furnished suites include fully equipped kitchens— outfitted with Fisher & Paykel appliances, tiled floors and stone countertops—along with Wi-‐Fi access, iPod docks and flat-‐screen TVs. One-‐bedroom units will range in size from 608 sq. ft to 625 sq. ft, while two-bedroom units will vary between 760 sq. ft and 1105 sq. ft.
Comox Bay Marina & Residences is deeded, whole-‐ownership real estate, ranging from the mid $200,000s to $750,000. Purchasing a unit at this property is akin to buying a condo while having access to the services and amenities of a luxury resort. Comox Bay Marina & Residences will receive Bellstar brand affiliation and real estate promotion, along with strata and resort management, pre-‐opening consulting and management services and the option for owners to submit their units into a Bellstar-‐managed rental pool. Ownership at Comox Bay Marina & Residences provides a unique real estate opportunity for sailors and boaters.
Ownership includes the option of securing a boat slip up to 50 feet long at Comox Bay Marina, one of the largest and most popular on the east coast of Vancouver Island. (There are currently 800 people on a waiting list.)
Located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, 220 kilometres north of Victoria, Comox is nestled between the Beaufort Range and Comox Glacier in the west, and the Strait of Georgia in the east. The coastal town is a 75-‐minute flight from Calgary and Edmonton, and a 45-‐minute, harbour-‐to-‐harbour flight from Vancouver. Pacific Coastal Air and Central Mountain Air offer daily flights from Vancouver International airport directly to Comox Valley Airport, while West Coast Air offers three daily float-‐plane flights from Vancouver's Coal Harbour directly to Comox Bay Marina. The Comox Valley is a 2.5-‐hour drive north from Victoria or a 75-‐minute drive from Nanaimo's Departure Bay and Duke Point ferry terminals.
